Trial Court headed by Session Judge Ravinder Kaur held Vikas, son of U P politician D P Yadav and his cousin Vishal, guilty of murder, abduction and destruction of evidence in the case. The sentence, however, has not been pronounced and is likely to be pronounced on 30th of May. Earlier, the court rejected the plea raised by Vikas Yadav that the pronouncement of verdict be stayed as the Delhi High Court is likely to hear his application seeking a stay on trial court proceedings on Wednesday.
The court held Vikas Yadav and Vishal Yadav guilty under Section 302, 364, 201 and 34 of the IPC. Soon after the judgment, Vikas and his cousin were then taken away to the lock-up. Neelam Katara, mother of Nitish Katara, who has been fighting for justice for six year, finally seemed happy with the judgment. She said that her faith in judiciary has become stronger now. The defence side on the other hand accused the court that there seemed some pressure on trial court for early judgment from some quarter.
Neelam Katara was in thankful mood. She thanked media and said that media played great role in fight for justice. She believed and hoped that media will continue the same spirit in future too. Soon after the judgment Vishal, who was on bail, was rushed into police custody and sent to jail.
