Carrying the hopes and good wishes from a billion population of India, Vijender Kumar has become third boxer from India to reach into quarter-finals of boxing competitions. He defeated Angkhan Chomphuphuang of Thailand in the 75kg middle-weight category of boxing. Earlier, Akhil, and Jitender have made to quarters, and have given a hope for medals.

Vijender defeated Angkhan 13:3 in the match. Now, in next round Vijender will face Carlos Gongora of Ecuador. He is just one win away from Bronze medal. And, if he could win one for India, it would be first time that India has won two medals in one Olympics. Vijender was powerful since the beginning of the match itself and had taken lead of two points in first round.

Vijender was offensive and his opponent was overwhelmed with his fists and heavy punches. The second round was decisive moment where he had got a lead of 6-1. Amusingly enough, Angkhan tried hard but could not manage the match as his punches were not targeting correctly, also, he could not do much against excellent footwork from Indian.
