As the remakes of old hit Hindi films like Don and Sholey bagged a mixed response from the public, it remains to be seen how Parinda is going to fare. One hears that Indian film maker Vidhu Vinod Chopra is seriously contemplating the remake of his 1989 blockbuster movie Parinda and that too in English and with an international cast.

The story Parinda of 1989 provided a glimpse into the life of Indian underworld gangsters and that of the general people in Mumbai. It featured Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher and Madhuri Dixit. The new film is tentatively titled Broken Horses.

One hears that the English version of Parinda will be set in the city of Mexico famous for its underworld nexus and that Reliance Entertainment will be supporting it. It is being tried to rope in Amitabh Bachchan for the ruthless don’s role played by Nana Patekar in the original version.

As Parinda was about two brothers caught on the opposite sides of the law, Chopra supposedly has two top-raking Hollywood actors in mind to play the brothers in the new film. Though the film trade people insist this news is authentic, the spokesperson for Vinod Chopra Films, however, rejected it.
