Vice Admiral Nirmal Verma is the has been appointed as the Chief of Indian anavy.
 
Nirmal Verma was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff recently by the Ministry of Defence.
 
Verma, who is currently the Commander-in-Chief of the Vizag-based Eastern Naval Fleet, will take over Admiral Sureesh Mehta, who is retiring on August 31Chief of Naval Staff from September 1.
 
Verma, who was a student of St Josephs' Convent School at Idgah Hills in Bhopal, had joined the National Defence Academy's 35 course.
 
The Admiral-designate is the son of Harishankar Verma, a lawyer who is presently, Bimal Verma, Nirmals brother, who is also in the Navy as a Rear Admiral.
