Verizon Wireless mentioned on Tuesday that it has plans for developing and selling mobile phones, which will be using the Android operating system of Google.
 
Google, which has already been trying to foray into mobile phone market, has plans for selling targeted advertising over Android-powered mobile phones.
 
Google has already bagged deals from Sprint Nextel Corp and T-Mobile USA for providing Android OS to develop mobile phones.
 
Google and Verizon Wireless, a venture of Verizon Communications Inc and Vodafone Group Plc, will be developing Android-based devices which will offer the applications from Google as well as Verizon. The Android phones, provided by Verizon, will be from world’s topmost cell phone manufactures.
 
Taiwan's HTC is providing Android phones. Motorola has launched its first Android-based Smartphone last month.
 
Samsung and LG, according to reports, are planning for the development of Android-based handsets.
