Venus Williams bagged her fifth Wimbledon title on Saturday, July 5, 2008 after crashing sister Serena Williams, in a powerhouse tennis match that lasted for nearly two hours. Venus downed her younger sister 7-5 and 6-4 in the Wimbledon Women singles final.

The siblings met in a grand slam tennis match for the seventh time.  An ecstatic Venus after her victory remarked that she couldn’t believe that it’s her fifth Wimbledon title.

On playing the match against Serena, the elder sister remarked that it was a test playing against her as she is really awesome. Serena in the past in 2002 and 2003 had comfortably won the Wimbledon titles against her elder sister. The match was closely followed at the court by their mother and other sister.

Venus none the less after her win at the centre court remarked that her first job is that of an elder sister and that she takes very seriously. The younger sister also however had something to smile about as she partnered Venus to the Women’s doubles title for the third time. The sisters, who were against each other few hours back, beat Samantha Stosur and Lisa Raymond 6-2, 6-2.
