Williams sisters are all set to meet in the quarter-final of the US Open 2008. It would be 17th clash of two sisters. Earlier, the seventh seed Venus defeated 9th seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in straight set by 6-1, 6-3, and bumped into quarter-finals. Similarly, her sister, Serena, ranking fourth defeated wild-card entrant Severine Bremond of France in straight set by 6-2, 6-2.

These two sisters have dominated the U.S. Open women’s singles championship from 1999 to 2002. Post-2002 US Open has not been good for both the sisters. While, Serena hasn’t made it past the quarterfinals in US Open thereafter, Venus has only reached one semifinal. Sibling rivalry? There is no ugly sibling rivalry in tennis court. Serena said their sibling rivalry is classic and unique.

By now, both the sisters know how to play against each other. Earlier, in the month of July Venus defeated Serena for the title at Wimbledon and that was their seventh major title match. Serena on her next match commented that it is so soon, and it is really disappointing to be so soon. She said that even the semis would have been better than the quarters, but at least one of them will make to the semis.
