Former Indian prime minister VP Singh's son Ajai Pratap Singh has joined Ram Vilas Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party. Ram Vilas Paswan announced on Friday (March 6) that Ajai Pratap Singh will contest Lok Sabha polls from Fatehpur. While making the announcement, Paswan appealed to the UPA partners not to field candidates against Singh.

The Jan Morcha founded by V P Singh merged with the Lok Janshakti Party which made it possible for Ajai Pratap Singh to contest election from Fatehpur, VP Singh's erstwhile seat.  Talking to media, Ram Vilas Paswan said that he held two rounds of talks with Samajwadi Party general secretary, Amar Singh on the issue of unity among the UPA partners in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking to media, Ajai Pratap Singh said that he has decided to contest election to realise his father's dreams and to continue his fight for the rights of farmers, youth and Muslims. He also informed that VP Singh wanted to make Paswan the president of the erstwhile Janata Dal.
