Even though the term of V.K. Sibal as the oil regulator of India is set to get over in a few days, he has called in for an early retirement from Oil India. This step comes when the Oil ministry had requested for a three-month service extension for him.
Sources mention that Director General of Hydrocarbons Sibal had applied for his retirement when he was on his deputation with the federal government. But no decision has yet been taken. He had been facing accusations after reports claiming that he was favouring Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries in the KGF gas dispute.
But Sibal was not available for comments. But reports claim that his decision comes after the Central Vigilance Commission started probing into the issue.
