Now you can send emails, save and retrieve personal information and share contact details with a friend just through an SMS from your mobile phone even if the device does not have the Internet service. This is possible because of the newly introduced service by a Bangalore-based startup company, MyDuniya Networks that is presently only available to Airtel subscribers in Karnataka. But do not despair as the service will soon be extended to cover the entire country.
Jagdish Kini, the founder and chairman of MyDyniya Networks, has confirmed that the service will be expanded nationally and to other telecom operators soon. The user can also engage in interactive group messaging and dispatch files to email addresses via this SMS-based application. It is reported that data up to one megabyte can be sent to e-mail addresses using the SMS shortcode 53695. Mr Kini stated that this service was introduced to plug the digital gap between the mobile users and web users.
The Bangalore based startup company, MyDuniya Networks also has a platform for enterprises and web portals that will allow them to make use of the service through the mobile phone. The platform will permit two way-communications and can even be enhanced to support provision of personalized information. With India being second biggest mobile user base in the world and the country having approximately 3.9 million broadband connections and about 32 million active Internet users, the startup company see ample room for growth.
