American singer Akon is likely to launch two new signature fragrances later this year. The ‘Beautiful’ singer has recently formed a cosmetic house called Konvict Cosmetics. Of the two fragrances, the one that is called Konvicted will cater to younger consumers. The other one is called Aliaune, titled after his real name. Aliaune perfume is aimed at mature customers. With the launch of the new fragrances, Akon will join the likes of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears in perfume industry.

 

Meanwhile, Akon has been roped in as the musical director for the forthcoming 2010 Football World Cup. The US singer-songwriter will prepare the theme song of the Football World Cup, scheduled to be held in South Africa in 2010. While interacting with the media, the elated singer said that he will be the official music coordinator of the Football World Cup in South Africa.

 

Thirty-five year-old year singer gained massive popularity in 2004 following the release of 'Locked Up' form his debut album 'Trouble'. His second album 'Konvicted' earned him a Grammy Award nomination. Akon has recently announced the expansion of his clothing line, Konvict & Aliaune Clothing.
