US President Barack Obama will be meeting the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since the efforts of US for restoring the Middle East peace talks failed.
The Israeli Prime Minister will be a guest at the White House's Oval Office on Monday evening.
Benjamin Netanyahu reached Washington on Sunday evening on a three-day itinerary. He will be addressing the Jewish group as well as hold talks with the US Congress members.
Israel had been forced to deny that White House had sent an invitation for Netanyahu to visit as the White House had rejected to confirm the meeting between the US President and the Israeli Premier.
Netanyahu had resisted to the proposals put forward by the US for restricting the settlement construction, but had mentioned that it was ready to ease new construction.
Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas has said a freeze is a precondition for restarting peace talks that have been stalled for nearly a year.
