The US Open men's final will now take place on Monday. This is the second consecutive year that the US Open matches have been cancelled due to rain.
The women's semi-finals between Kim Clijsters and second-seeded Serena Williams and between Danish ninth seed Caroline Wozniacki and Belgian outsider Yanina Wickmayer were both called off in the late afternoon.
The men’s quarterfinal between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez also had to be postponed, as no weather relief was in sight.
Saturday programme now features the conclusion of the Nadal-Gonzalez match, plus the women's semis.
The match between Nadal and Gonzalez was called off half way at around midnight on Thursday with Nadal leading by 7-6 (7-4), 6-6 (3-2). Argentine Juan Del Potro who beat Croatian Marin Cilic on Thursday will play against the winner between Nadal and Gonzalez.
The men's final will take place on Monday.
