US, Indian Business Leaders Pressurise For Free Trade Agreement By 2015

The US and Indian Business leaders have quoted that both the governments should devote priority attention for the crafting of a bilateral free trade mechanism, which should be effective from 2015. This agreement must be relevant to the advanced technology sectors open for the participation of other countries.

The key recommendations of the task force formulated by the Pacific Council on International Policy and the FCCI:-
·         Launch formal negotiations on an agreement for the regulation of growing bilateral investment relationship.
·          A senior US official should be designated to work with New Delhi on defining a mutual vision for economic interaction in the years ahead.
·          A comprehensive review of the export controls that still inhibit bilateral trade in high technology goods and services and develop a joint plan for their maximum-possible reduction should be undertaken by both governments.
·         Fully implement the nuclear agreement
·         Positive-sum action to be taken for the expansion the global talent pool
·         Ensure cooperation for the enhancing of science and technology growth.
·         The Indo-US Science and technology forum has to be strengthened.
·         The Energy and Environmental Cooperation must be strengthened.
·         The Second Green Revolution must be launched.
·         India and United States must accelerate their synchronisation of the testing protocols and product standards in the pharmaceutical sectors.
·         Both the governments has to reach a common understanding of the intellectual property rights.
