The US - India Business Council (USIBC) will felicitate leading Indian businessmen Azim Premji and Anil Ambani at Washington on June 17. The honour would be bestowed during the USIBC’s 34th anniversary Synergies summit in Washington.
Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro, will be felicitated with the ‘Global Vision’ award. Anil Ambani, Chairman of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, will be honoured with the ‘Global Leadership’ award. These awards are in recognition to their distinguished contribution to the corporate world.
Sy Sternberg, former chairman and CEO of New York Life Company, will receive ‘Business Excellence’ award.
USIBC was started in 1975 to involve the private firms of India and the US in the enhancement of the investment flows between the two countries. It is headquartered at the US Chamber of Commerce, Washington. The Council acts as a link between corporate and government leaders to improve commercial ties. The Council has about 310 American companies with presence in India. Out of these, 220 companies are among Fortune 500 list of companies.
USIBC has partnerships with premier industry associations in India like, National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the American Chamber of Commerce in India (AmCham India), etc. The chairman of USIBC is Indira Nooyi, who is the chairman and CEO of PepsiCo.
The Council arranges important business conferences in India and the US. To facilitate better service to the members, USIBC has set up offices at New York, California, and New Delhi.
