US government led by Barack Obama has decided to provide a $205 million aid for Nepal. This will be used by Nepal for humanitarian crisis and peace measures.
These funds, which will be disbursed over a period of 5 years, by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), is meant for peace measures, strengthening the democracy and governance as well as for improving health services.
Kapil Dev Ghimire, joint secretary of the ministry of finance, and Kevin A. Rushing, mission director of USAID/Nepal, signed the agreement in Kathmandu Tuesday, the US Embassy in Nepal said.
A major portionof the aid will be used for providing quality health services, particularly the poor, and for the pursuit of the 2015 Millennium Development Goals for health.
Part of the aid will also support humanitarian assistance and recovery programmes, including flood recovery in the Terai plains bordering India.
