US destroyer ship USS McFaul has reached on the coast of Georgia; the report has been confirmed by U.S. Embassy spokesman Stephen Guice in Tbilisi, and also, there has been confirmation of the same from Russian side. However, the vessel is carrying relief materials needed at torn area of Georgia. Earlier, Russia had criticized the NATO naval ship's presence in the Black Sea.
Commenting on the developments in the region Deputy Chief of Staff Anatoly Nogovitsyn of Russia said that NATO is enhancing its military presence in the Black Sea under the pretext of providing humanitarian aid, and this does not contribute to stability in the region. However, two more US naval vessels are scheduled to arrive in Georgia in coming days carrying relief products.
On the other hand US White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe has said that there are very specific requirements for Russian withdrawal and putting up permanent facilities and checkpoints are inconsistent with the agreement. Meanwhile, the presence of several other NATO naval vessels in the Black Sea according to NATO sources is part of a naval exerceise plan made one year ago.
