USA has accused North Korea of helping Syria build a nuclear reactor, not meant for peaceful purposes. USA said that Syria's nuclear reactor is dangerous for the development of the world. The site of the nuclear reactor is almost the same as that of Yongbyon Plant of North Korea and has the same number of fuel rods. According to the sources, USA was aware in 2003 that North Korea was helping Syria build a nuclear reactor.

There are many photographs of the construction site which reveals the al-Kibar facilities and the inside and outside of the building. However, there are no evidences that North Korea has supplied nuclear fuel to Syria. Now it is sure that Syria will not allow the United Nations atomic weapons inspectors to visit and access the site.

Meanwhile, Syria has said that the claim of the USA is false and it cannot violate the nuclear non proliferation treaty by doing such works. The US officials said that the al-Kibar facility closely matched the Yongbyon plant which was used for the production of Plutonium. There are video footages showing the presence of North Koreans inside the nuclear reactor. However, Imad Moustapha, Syria's ambassador to the US said that all the evidences are manufactured ones as the US wants to wage a war against the country.
