Union Budget 2010-11 that will be presented on February 26 is expected to boost the garment and textiles industry. It is hoped that both the natural fibers and the man-made fibers industry will be profitable by the proposals included in the budget. Common man can now hope for a considerable reduction in the prices of garments.

Budget is also expected to have considerable impact on the Food processing industry of the country. One of the primary reasons for the current high inflation rate of fruits and vegetables is that more than 25 percent of the food items are wasted before they could actually reach the consumers. In case, if adequate measures are taken to prevent this food wastage, food price can be controlled effectively. Besides, high exercise duty is levied on the branded products which make it difficult for the common man to purchase them. The forthcoming budget is expected to solve this problem as well.
