Three bulk loads of drugs from unregistered manufacturers of China have been seized in Chennai sea port very recently. This information was given by the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday.
The officers of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) have taken up the issue with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Customs as well as all the port officials are expected to restrain such imports in India.
He said that a committee has been formed for looking into such problems of unauthentic drugs in India. He also added that several steps such as the increasing of penalty as well as punishment for the prevention of manufacturing and selling of such bogus drugs have been initiated.
He also added that the 23 state drug labs as well as 6 central drug labs have been made stronger via extensions, renovations as well as equipments.
