"The Chinese government, at the early stage of this natural disaster, has invested strenuous effort and demonstrated extraordinary leadership," was the statement of UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon.  He asked Chinese government to be swift in rescue work and provide basic amenities to affected people. The visit of Moon is significant in the aftermath of disastrous earth quake which took nearly 80,000 lives and nearly 25,000 are still missing. He landed in China by Helicopter and met Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

Before visiting to China Ban visited Myanmar which has been heavily devastated by severe earth quake. He also thanked Myanmar Junta which agreed to open its relief work for outside world after his visit to the country. Mr. Ban also did observation of relief work carried by Chinese soldiers. According to the sources relief work is going smoothly but difficult terrain such as hill areas are still disconnected and are out of reach of relief work. Collapsed bridges and landslides blocked roads are major hurdle in to the accessibility of earth quake affected region.
