The four Asian countries of India, Nepal, the Philippines, and Bangladesh are likely to get a visit from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon by the last week of October, 2008. The UN Secretary General will be attending an international conference on migration and development in Philippines. Philippines will be organizing The Second Global Forum on Migration and Development in Manila on October 29, this year. The President of Philippines, Gloria Arroyo will meet UN Chief Ban Ki-moon in that meeting. Ban will also be honored with the doctorate degree by the University of the Philippines.
After his visit to Philippines, Ban will be heading towards New Delhi where he will meet with the leaders of Indian government. However, the exact date of Ban's visit to India has not been confirmed yet. The UN chief will also meet Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal during his Nepal stint. He is also supposed to visit the birth place of Lord Buddha in Lumbini, Nepal besides meeting Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav and members of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal. After that, he will go to Bangladesh.
