According to a UN report, the Nepalese political parties have been advised by the UN to put an end to the social inequality so that peace can be revived.
This appeared in the Nepal Human Development Report 2009, which was released in Kathmandu on Monday.
According to the report, the gap between people having electricity and those without still remain the same.
"The Human Development Report records the serious nature of uneven development," UN resident representative Robert Piper said.
"Although there had been important gains in the development index on the national level, the gaps between the advantaged and disadvantaged groups remain the same."
According to him, the power relations is almost the same as it was during 1990, when the country had democracy back.
"The message of today's report is that absence of war does not ensure either lasting peace or prosperity," Piper said. "Nepal's ambitious post-conflict transformation must be addressed to end centuries of discrimination and exclusion so these patterns are broken forever,"
The main reasons behind uprising in Nepal that lead to the death of about 13,000 people were growing inequality, social discrimination and poverty.
"Poverty and discrimination between ethnic groups and castes are the cause of the war," the report said. "Ineffective government, internally displaced people and disappointed combatants are the consequences of the war and they are yet to be addressed."
