General Women's Union (GWU) of the United Arab Emirates is all set to launch a new initiative to educate women about the legislations addressing and dealing with the issues concerning them.
The project, "Know Your Rights", is intended to implement the National Strategy for the Advancement of Women, a joint initiative with the UNDP launched in 2006.
This will make the role of women more active and ensure that their positive participation is present in eight key areas - Education, economy, media, social work, health, legislations and environment as well as political and executive fields.
The campaign, that will have a formal launch in October, is intended to create the awareness among women about their rights guaranteed by the constitution. It also aims at building their capacities for defending their legal rights.
