The United Arab Emirates has put forward a proposal at the civil aviation global conference being held in Montreal, in which the steps required for restricting the emissions from airlines have been mentioned.

The global aviation conference had been conducted by International Civil Aviation Organisation in Montreal for Oct 7 till Oct 9. The UAE delegation was led by Saif Al-Suwaidi, director general of General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The long term and medium term proposals for curbing the emissions, which are major contributors for global climate change, have been submitted by the UAE.

This meeting recognised the importance of ICAO in providing leadership to international civil aviation in limiting or reducing its emissions, it said.

The developments of the ICAO global conference will be submitted during the United Conference on Climate Change, which is slated to take place in Copenhagen in December 2009.
