United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a nuclear pact with America on Monday, April 21, 2008. UAE asserted that it wants to set a good example before the middle east by developing civil nuclear energy. US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice after the agreement remarked that US considers UAE to be a responsible partner. The UAE on Sunday had released a paper on its potential plans to develop peaceful nuclear energy.
 
The nuclear pact was signed between US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice and UAE Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. After signing the MoU, Sheikh Abdulla remarked that there are potential mutual benefits to both parties from deepening cooperation in the development of the UAE’s domestic nuclear energy sector. The foreign minister further asserted that the MoU represented a perfect example of cooperation, the UAE aspires to forge with responsible nuclear supplier states in the area of peaceful nuclear energy.
