Jonathan Horton-led-team from the United States finished at the top of the qualifying group in men's gymnastics event at the Beijing Olympics on Saturday, August 9. This is just the initial stage and their defeating Italy and Spain does not indicate much.
It remains to be seen how these male gymnasts from the United States will fare against strong teams from China, Japan, Russia, Germany, South Korea and Romania. It is after competing against these teams that the US gymnasts will know whether or not they will make the final eight for the medals round.
Upon leading his team into the arena and seeing US flags in the audience, Jonathan Horton waved and pumped his arms. He behaved in a similar fashion when the team walked from rings to vault. The US men’s gymnast team earned 365.200 points, well ahead of Spain's 357.925 and Italy's 355.500.
