TVS Motors, one of India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturers, will be kicking off the production of its 125-cc ‘Flame’ with twin spark plugs after the required clearance is obtained.
The company official, who is authorized to speak on the same, has mentioned that TVS Motors is waiting for the completion of the re-certification process, which is a must for all the vehicle manufacturers for the re-launching of a model.
TVS Motors and Bajaj Auto were in a legal war after the latter claimed TVS for violating its patent.
TVS Motor in a statement said it would take steps to obtain all necessary certifications required under law before commencing sales of twin spark plug model. However, the company did not disclose the number of Flame models it would roll out.
A Madras High Court bench had restricted the manufacturing, marketing and selling of TVS Motors’ 125 cc motorcycles after receiving protests from BajajAuto. But even though later it had permitted, Bajaj had challenged the High Court order by filing a petition in the Supreme Court.
Last week a two-member Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Markandey Katju and Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly had given the permission for the sales of TVS Motor Flame. Madras High Court was also directed to hear the tussle between the two firms.
The hearing should be concluded by Nov 30 this year, the court said.
