TVS Motor is all set to foray into US market with its premium 160cc bike Apache RTR by this year. TVS Motor will be the second indigenous company to enter into US market. Apart from TVS, utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra is also considering to launch its flagship Scorpio SUV in the US. Meanwhile, TVS Motor has successfully conducted the mandatory technical and emission tests for Apache bike and is ready to hit the US road.
While talking to media, TVS Motor president (marketing & sales) HS Goindi said the company has successfully completed all the requisite tests and has also talked with distributors for selling Apache bike in US market. TVS Motor will launch its advanced fuel injection technology-enabled Apache bike in US. HS Goindi informed that company has brought some minor changes in the bike to meet the US automotive standards.
As per industry sources, TVS Motor has appointed Classic Motorworks for distribution of its bikes in US. Classic Motorworks is an importer and distributor of two-wheeler in the US market and is engaged in selling Royal Enfield Motorcycle brands in that country. According to Goindi, although America is a small market for two-wheeler but it offers a huge number of prospective buyers. TVS Motor is expecting to sell out a few thousand bikes in the first year but it will mark it overseas operation.
Goindi stated that after establishing its brand in US, TVS Motor will start to market more products in that country in future. TVS Motor, the flagship company of TVS Group, also sells its bikes, scooters and mopeds in Latin America, South-East Asia and Africa. It also owns a manufacturing facility in Indonesia.
