The Turner Broadcasting System, the entertainment branch of the firm Time Warner, has chalked out a significant growth plan for itself in India. Turner is going to establish its personal production house for animation movies. TBS is also known to be introducing a TV channel in alliance with Warners Brothers that will telecast the newest Hollywood releases and TV series. This happens to be the first Turner-Warner partnership in the world.
Anshuman Misra, who is the MD of Turner International India Pvt Ltd has said that the company will create local partners for its animation project. The plan of TBS is to bring out two animation films each year. The very first one will get screened in 2009. Mr Mishra added that initially the animation movies would be made in English, but then Hindi and other regional languages later.
Turner Broadcasting System Company, however, will not set up a studio as it plans to use its collaborator’s studio to make the movies, said Mr Misra. Turner has also collaborated with the Alva brothers to introduce a Hindi entertainment channel that will go on air by 2008 end. The Alvas are the promoters of Miditech, India’s leading production house. How much the company will invest in its India ventures has not been divulged yet. It was, nevertheless, underscored that India will be a very vital market for TBS.
