Turkey has reached into quarterfinals of Euro 2008 after defeating Czech Republic by 3-2. Now Turkey will meet Croatia in quarterfinals of the tournament. In this dramatic match Czech Republic was 2-0 until first half of the game. For Czechs Jan Koller and midfielder Jaroslav Plasil did the goals. When everything was set and momentum was set for Czech Republic, Turkey came with counter attack. Arda Turan of Turkey did a goal in 75th minute.

Still match was looking to be of Czech Republic. Shock for Czechs came when just three minutes were remaining and keeper Petr Cech inexplicably dropped the ball at the feet of Nihat Kahveci, who stroked it into an empty net. Turkey was now 2-2 before two minutes to finish the game and Nihat stunned Czech with a right-foot shot from the edge of the penalty area that went in off the underside of the bar.

Defeated captain of Czech Tomas Ujfalusi said that all he had to do was hold on to the end of the match and he would have won but he could not do it. He seemed apologetic for becoming defensive in last minutes of the game. Turkey finished with six points in Group A, three ahead of the Czechs, who were eliminated along with co-hosts Switzerland. Portugal is on top.
