Toyota India is planning to launch a small car in Indian market by next year. According to an official statement of the company, the proposed car will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. Toyota's small cars will be powered by 1.2-Litre and 1.3-Litre engines. The proposed compact car will be available in both sedan and hatchback. World's leading automaker, Toyota has tied up with Kirloskar group in India. The joint venture entity of both the companies is called Toyota Kirloskar Motors.
Speaking to the media, Toyota's MD, Hiroshi Nagakawa informed that the company is also considering to increase its dealership in India by the next two years. At present Toyota has 82 dealers in the country, which might be increased to 164 for the marketing of the proposed small car. Nagakawa also said that CNG variant of the Innova is all set to hit the Indian roads. According to him, some tests are being conducted and the car will be launched as soon as possible.
Informing about the proposed small car, Nagakawa said that the project has already reached the half-way stage and the company will roll out its new car in 22 months. Meanwhile, the company is also expected to set up its car finance arm in India. Commenting on that, deputy MD (marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Sandeep Singh said that the plan is at the initial stage and the company is indulged in market study for the finance arm.
