Toyota Motor's Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motors launched a face-lifted version of its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Innova. The new Toyota Innova is priced between Rs.766,000 and Rs.1.1 million (Rs.11.06 lakh). The upgraded version comes with renovated front grill and front bumper. The tail lamps and parking sensors in the rear bumper have also been modified. The new vehicle also features alloy wheels and a redone interior.
Since its debut in 2005, about 160,000 units of Toyota Innova have been sold. Toyota Innova holds 36 percent market share in the MPV segment. In 2008, the MPV segment experienced a 13 percent negative growth. During that period, Toyota sold 44,000 units of Innova.
According to the managing director, Hiroshi Nakagawa, Toyota targets 10 percent market share by 2015 and expects that the automobile market will revive by the middle of this fiscal year. He said that the company planned to launch small car by 2010 which will trigger up Toyota's market share. The CNG variant of Toyota Innova will be costlier by Rs.90,000 than other variants.
