Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that its next operating system Windows 7, successor to Windows Vista will be launched on October 28. The launching ceremony will be held on the occasion of Professional Developers Conference (PDC). According to Mike Swanson of Microsoft, PDC 2008 attendees will receive USB 2.0 based 160GB external HD with Windows 7 pre-beta build.
 
According to reports, the company has added more than a dozen Windows 7-specific sessions to the PDC agenda, which include new APIs to Find, Visualize and organize; integrate with the Windows 7 Desktop Taskbar and Best Practices for Developing for Windows Standard User. However, there is no confirmation of shipping of Beta 1 of Windows 7.
 
Accordingly, the firm is mulling a plan to unveil the final version of Windows 7 in early in the year 2010. The operating system has feature where photos, browsing of map and playing of onscreen piano is possible with a simple one and two-finger taps and gestures.
