Touch Bionics, a Scottish developer of world’s most advanced prosthetic hand, launched i-Limb in India today. The company’s Indian distributor, Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics Pvt Ltd, officially launched the device. The representatives of Scottish Development International and Spinal Injuries Hospital attended the launch of this device. This is indeed a groundbreaking achievement. 
Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics is a leader in prosthetics in India. It has pioneered many innovative services to hospitals. The bionic hand is the most advanced prosthetic product to be brought to India. During the launch, Gaurav Mishra, Director of International Sales, Touch Bionics, said, the entry into the Indian market demonstrated the expansion the company is going through. The company has sold over 700 prosthetic hands in less than two years and is currently shipping to 30 countries.

He added that there is a great potential for LIVINGSKIN products, used for aesthetic restoration. He hoped that devices like i-Limb hand would be easily available to the citizens of India. Rakesh Srivastava, President and CEO of Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics, expressed delight over the distribution rights. The company intends to  provide innovative services to the patients in India.

Since its debut, the cutting-edge technology of i-Limb hand has been rewarded with many accolades and awards, including the MacRobert Award by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, DaVinci Award by US National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Best Prosthetic Product Innovation Award by UK Limbless Association. The i-Limb Hand has also been included in Time magazine for Top 50 inventions of 2008.
