Fans all over the world hopelessly fell in love with actor Tom Cruise after Top Gun hit theatres during the 80s. In Top Gun, Cruise played LT Pete Maverick Mitchell, a young Naval aviator who aspires to be a top fighter pilot in the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School.
There is now a buzz that the makers of Top Gun movie are planning a sequel that will again star Tom Cruise in the lead. The sequel will have Hollywood heartthrob Cruise in his original role of pilot Maverick, but this time he would be an instructor dealing with a cocky trainee. A source who is associated with the project divulged, ‘The idea is Maverick is at the ‘Top Gun’ school as an instructor and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.’
One hears that a dummy script of the Top Gun sequel is all ready and that all it needs is a ‘go ahead’ signal from Tom Cruise. Judging by the popularity and the number of awards the original version garnered, there is little doubt that the sequel will be any less popular.
