The government of Northern Ireland has approved the plan of setting up of Titanic museum in the country. The five-storey Titanic museum which will recount the legendary titanic journey will require an amount of 100 million pounds to get operational. The newly proposed museum will be built in the capital city Belfast on the site of the shipyard where the Titanic was built nearly 100 years ago. The luxury passenger-ship, Titanic sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean, killing 1500 passengers and crew.
According to reports, the construction task of the museum is expected to get started by next year and by 2012, it will be able to hold full fledged exhibition. The year 2012 will also mark the centenary of the Titanic's sinking. The mega museum is expected to attract 400,000 visitors every year. As far as the funding of the museum project is concerned, the Northern Ireland government assured to offer a massive funding package. Apart from this, the funding is approved for the public transport system that will link the east and west of the city, traditionally divided on sectarian grounds.
