The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam the managing committee of the temple has applied for the patent for the Laddu to meet ever-spreading counterfeiters who are selling laddus branding Tirupati Laddu. According to the sources due to heavy demand for the most sought after ‘Tirupati Laddus’ some hawkers in nearby temple have started selling counterfeit laddus to mint money. These hawkers have misled many devotees too.

 

After analyzing the situation the committee has decided to ask for GI tag which will ensure the security of original product and whoever will try to counterfeit it will be punished for violation of patent law. This step has been taken after the unsuccessful effort wherein committee raided many hawkers but in vain. Now with this new decision authority is hopeful that by application of law fraud hawkers could be cached.
