US Ambassador Timothy Roemer, on his first visit to Kolkata, is slated to meet the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, on Oct 13. He will be visiting Kolkata on a two-day itinerary. This information was disclosed by the American Consulate on Oct 8.
The US Ambassador will also meet the envoys from the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM, in addition to visiting the family home of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore at Jorasankod.
Roemer, who assumed his charge as the US envoy to India in August 09, will pay his tribute to Mother Teresa at the global headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity (MoC), Mother House on Oct 14. He will also pay a visit to the MoC run Shishu Bhavan, which is a children’s home.
Children and other needy people receive a daily meal that is funded in part through the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) food aid program, the sources said.
