'The President Is Coming' is the latest comedy flick to grace the theaters across India. Boasting of an impressive star cast, comprising of Konkona Sen Sharma, Shernaz Patel, Shivani Tanksale, Imran Rasheed and Ira Dubey, the movie has been set with the backdrop of a true incident - George Bush, President of The United States, visiting India (which took place in 2006). Another real fact depicted in the movie is that President Bush wants to meet one of the young faces responsible for shaping "The New India".
The rest of the movie is entirely fictional. From President Bush's unique desire, 'The President Is Coming' moves on to the story of the US Consulate hiring a PR agency that “knows America”. The objective of the agency is to find one young Indian who can be brought across President Bush as the 'Face of New India'. The agency starts hunting and comes across 6 Young Indians, who had their names in list of “top Indian achievers under 30”, compiled by India Today magazine, the biggest English-language weekly in India.
From amongst the six persons chosen from the huge population of India, one person will be selected to meet the American President. The selection process comprises of a round of bizarre tests. With time, the tests, being taken in a room in the US Consulate, get progressively tougher. Each of the six persons wants to be the one to shake hands with President Bush. As they resort to any means to do so, enough laughs are generated to make the viewer roll over. Who will be the one to meet the American President in person?
