The Kalam Effect: My years With The President is a book written by PM Nair, who remained Kalam's secretary throughout his presidential term. It has obviously raised lot of interest among many readers. The book is to be released on 21 April. It tells about the untold parts and glances into Kalam's life, who has inspired so many adults, youth and children and continues to do so till date.

The book also mentions two letters of very great political importance which were apparently typed out at Rashtrapati Bhawan. One letter appointed Sonia Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India, soon after the 2004 Lok Sabha elections were declared. After the 2004 elections, Kalam invited Sonia Gandhi to meet him where he was to hand her the letter and was to declare her the Prime Minister of India but Sonia Gandhi refused. Instead, she suggested Manmohan Singh's name and another letter was drafted which appointed Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister.

On the other hand the second letter was the resignation of President himself, because of the dissolution of the Bihar assembly. Both these letters obviously went into trash but now, for the first time ever, the content of these letters will be made public through this book.

Not only this, there are numerous incidents mentioned in the book that is sure to touch the heart of the readers. It will perhaps, also send an amount of remorse for those who might have questioned Kalam's plausibility as a President of India. PM Nair further mentions, how President Kalam had told him of his decision to quit but the writer helped him come out of this situation. Furthermore, the book also tells how important people like retired Chief Secretaries, etc. used to suggest their own names for awards like the Padma Bhushan and other such credentials.

The writer also mentions that once, when the relatives of the President had visited Rashtrapati Bhawan, he himself paid the entire bill for their stay, which shows the class of the man. Generally, the books which are written on Kalam are the top sellers which tell of the immense popularity that this man enjoys. The Kalam Effect: My Years With The President also seems to be headed that way
