The serial bomb blasts of Assam that took place on October 30 were claimed to be executed by lesser-known outfit called Islamic Security Force-Indian Mujahideen (ISF-IM). The group itself claimed the responsibility of the blast through a SMS to a local news channel of Assam. At least 12 serial bomb blasts shook the state of Assam on Thursday killing about 77 people and injuring more than 450. After taking the responsibility of the deadly attack, the newly evolved outfit also threatened to execute such bomb blasts in other parts of the country.

According to reports, the SMS was sent from a mobile with Reliance connection with the number 98646-93690. The mobile number has been successfully traced by the security forces and found that it belongs to Nazir Ahmed of Central Assam's Nagaon district. According to police sources, the Islamic Security Force-Indian Mujahideen which was formed in 2000 hails from Lower Assam's Bodo-dominated areas. The outfit came into force to counter the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) and NDFB militants, informed the sources.
