The Censor board has banned the Tamil movie, "Thambivudaiyan” which is based on the “Cauvery water dispute”.
The movie is about the difficulties which are faced by the farmers of “Thanjavur region” because of the “Cauvery water dispute”.
The censor board has objected on its content and banned the film's release.
Director of the movie “Raja Mahesh” said that through the movie "Thambivudaiyan”, he wanted to show the sufferings of the farmers.
"The problem has been there for decades but it still remains unresolved. As I too am from Thanjavur district, I wanted to attempt a solution to this long-pending issue through a movie”, Raja Mahesh said.
The censor board asked the director to remove an important sequence of the movie.
"The hero of the film abducts the wife and children of a powerful minister and says that they would be released only if the 'other side' releases water to the starving farmers”, the director informs.
When the censor board asked Raja Mahesh to remove this particular sequence he refused saying that it was an important sequence. The censor board went ahead and banned the film.
"We have decided to go in for another appeal”, Raja Mahesh said.
