Hurricane Ike has battered Texas State of USA badly and it has been compared with Katrina without death. US President, George Bush, before official visit to his home state on the question of hurricane's effect on oil industry said that it is too early to determine the damage to US energy infrastructure. Local US officials said that there were nearly three deaths in Galveston by the storm.
Galveston has been affected badly with the storm and flood and nearly 2,000 people have been rescued from flooded areas. There has not been a proper supply of food and water in Houston and Galveston. On the issue of improper food and water supply, Houston Mayor Bill White said that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is duty bound to deliver these supplies and they are accountable for any inefficiency.
The maladministration of emergency management is not unprecedented in hurricane situations in USA. Earlier, in the year 2005 during Katrina catastrophe the Bush administration had come under heavy criticism for its botched relief efforts in New Orleans. Reports say that the city Galveston does not have water, power and gasoline, and situation is tough for those who are affected.
