The Delhi Court has permitted the state controlled broadcaster Doordarshan (DD) to book advertisements for the two one day cricket matches between Sri Lanka and India. The revenue earned from these advertisements will thereafter be shared by DD in the 75:25 proportion with the official broadcaster of the series Ten Sports.
The Court allowed this arrangement after Ten Sports conceded sharing the live telecast with Doordarshan of the leftover two one-day international cricket matches between Sri Lanka and India. Ten Sports provided this undertaking to the bench of Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice Veena Birbal.
The Delhi Court also took strong exception to the Centre for its delay in issuance of showcause notice to Ten Sports for sharing the feed. According to the rules, it is mandatory for private broadcasters to share feed of significant sports event with Doordarshan if the show involves Indian team.
