In order to bring the New Zealanders closer to the drama and excitement that will be unfurled in the impending Beijing Olympics, the Television New Zealand (TVNZ) has announced that it will telecast over 800 hours of free-to-air Olympics action. It has said that this August it will provide LIVE coverage of Olympics, which is the biggest televised event in the world, through TV ONE, TVNZ Sport Extra and further two other live online channels.

The broadcast of the games by TV ONE will be quite extensive, so much so that one can refer it as the home of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. The rest of the channels will complement the coverage of TV ONE. ‘To truly experience the Olympics as an event, watch TV ONE,’ the TVNZ Head of Sport, Murray Needham suggests. Through online channels of the TVNZ, the sports enthusiasts can spend extra time keeping themselves updates on the Beijing Olympic events. Highlights of the games will be available on tvnz.co.nz. The TVNZ Sport Extra will run 24x7 broadcasting full competition sessions.
