The ten-day long stand-off between Indian television industry workers and producers is likely to come to end as the workers have decided to lift their strike. This move will surely bring delight among the television viewers of India as they will be able to watch the new contents of their favourite programmes instead of repeat telecast. The vice-president of Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA), Shushma Shiromani confirmed the news of the settlement of disputes.
The television workers had called a strike demanding higher wages, better work conditions and more breaks between shoots. The decision of the workers to keep themselves away from the responsibilities had forced all the major television channels to opt for repeat telecast of the programmes. According to media reports, the decision to break the dead lock was taken after holding a meeting among the television workers, producers and broadcasters.
An agreement has been singed between the workers and producers regarding this matter. The details of the agreement are yet to be issued to the media. The workers' strike has badly affected the TV channels. Many of the channels have incurred decline in their TRPs. With the all workers deciding to get back to work, the television channels must have heaved a huge sigh of relief.
