India-based IT company, Tech Mahindra Ltd has announced to open a call centre in Britain. Tech Mahindra's decision has brought a change in the trend of establishing call centers as most of time it is found that foreign companies usually set up call centres in India. The proposed call centre of Tech Mahindra is likely to be set up at Jarrow, South Tyneside in Britain. Tech Mahindra is the sixth largest software exporter of India. With headquarter at Pune, the company provides a wide variety of services ranging from IT strategy and consulting to systems Integration, application development & maintenance, BPO, infrastructure management and product engineering.
According to company sources, the call center will create 500 jobs in three years. The decision to open a call centre at Britain is supposed to be a part of company's expansion plan. The Indian company is aiming to further globalize its business for meeting the emerging demands of its customers. Tech Mahindra will be helped by the Tyneside regional development agency called One North East to develop its outsourcing business. One North East is supposed to handle the clients of Tech Mahindra. British Telecom which owns 35 per cent stake in Tech Mahindra will use the service of the Indian company.
