Leading IT service provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) procured a five-year IT contract from Volkswagen Group UK Ltd. As per the deal, TCS will offer IT transformation and support services to Volkswagen Group. However, nothing has been revealed about the financial details of the deal. TCS will use its Global Delivery Network to provide the vehicle manufacturer with onshore and offshore IT support and transformation services. The delivery of services from TCS will enable Volkswagen Group to carry out their operations across brands like Audi, SEAT, Skoda, Volkswagen passenger cars and Volkswagen Commercial vehicles.
The Indian company will help Volkswagen Group to increase the sale of cars and products by supporting group's transformation support programme. TCS will support all brands within Volkswagen Group thereby enabling mobility of employees, increased flexibility and cost reduction. Volkswagen has implemented an onshore-offshore model for its IT systems for the first time. According to Nick Gaines, Group IS director, Volkswagen Group UK, the company is immensely satisfied by awarding the contract to TCS.
He further said that Volkswagen Group has full confidence over TCS, which has been very impressive with its dedication and collaborative approach in terms of providing IT services. According to A S Lakshminarayanan of TCS, the Indian IT company will help Volkswagen Group UK to consolidate their IT systems onto a single platform. Volkswagen Group UK is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Europe's largest vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen AG.
