The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) opened its new development centre at Kalinga Park in Bhubaneswar on Sunday (January 4). The new development centre was inaugurated by the chief minister of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik. Apart from Orissa CM other dignitaries were also present in the inaugural ceremony including Minister of Energy, Culture & Information Technology, Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Orissa and TCS leadership team of S Ramadorai, CEO & Managing Director, N Chandrasekaran, B Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel and others.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of TCS Mr S Ramadorai said that the new development centre at Bhubaneswar is part of TCS's Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM). Established over an area of 45 acres of land, the first unit of Bhubaneswar center will have 1,000 seats. After the completion of the entire project, the center will have a total capacity of 7,000 seats. Ramadorai claimed that TCS Kalinga Park is among the greenest buildings in India.
The Kalinga facility has been designed as India’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rated IT Campus. An approved Special Economic Zone, TCS campus will serve global customers in industry segments like Banking & Financial Services, Retail, Insurance and Government with a focus on technology areas like enterprise solutions, assurance services, infrastructure services, BPO as well as IT services, informed Ramadorai.
Commenting further on the new facility, he said that it will also increase company's access to skilled professionals and students from in and around Bhubaneswar. TCS has played a vital role in building the national financial infrastructure through projects like the National Stock Exchange, NSDL, NCDEX, State Bank of India and others, claimed Ramadorai.
